Don’t be so kind, learners aren’t babies.

When speaking to a learner who doesn’t speak your native language do not baby them.
あなたの母国語を話さない人達と話すとき、彼らを赤ちゃんのよう甘やかさないでください
Learn to guide them. Learners want to earn their speaking ability.
彼らを指導する事を学んでください。言語を学んでる人達は、スピーキング能力を得たい いんです
Do not praise them for completing simple tasks. They didn’t earn this praise.
簡単な課題などを完ぺき出来たからといって、彼らを褒めないで下さい。
彼らはその称賛を欲しかったわけではありません
Everyone wants to be challenged and overcome the challenge.
誰もが挑戦したくて、その挑戦を乗り越えたいと思っています
Give them the chance to succeed and overcome the language barrier.
言語の壁を乗り越えて、成功する為の
チャンスをあげてください
When speaking to a learner everyone is cautious. But there is no need to be.
学習者に話しかけるとき、みんな慎重になります。しかしそんな必要はないです
Don’t be dramatic or too kind but have patience.
大袈裟に褒めたり親切にし過ぎないで
辛抱強くいて下さい
For Example, when I talk to people in English.
例えば、私が英語で人に話しかけたとき
I don’t assume anything except that they want to speak English.
彼らが英語を話したいと思っていること以外は何も想定していません
I talk to them normally, how I would speak to a normal english speaker.
私が普段ネイティブに英語を話す人達に話しかけるように、彼らにも普段通り話しかけます
The listener should be able to say “I don’t understand” , “please slow down”.
リスナーは ”理解してません”や
”ゆっくり話して下さい”と言う事が出来ます
But most importantly. “Can you say that simpler ?”
しかし最も重要な事は”簡単にわかりやすく言ってくれませんか？”と、言う事です
As a speaker you shouldn’t assume the listener can’t understand.
話し手として、あなたはリスナーが理解できないと思ってはいけません
The listener should learn to give “cues”, to his or her understanding level.
リスナーは彼や彼女の理解レベルに”手かがり”を与えることを学ぶべきです
The speaker should let the listener guide him.
話し手はリスナーに彼を指導させるべきです
The speaker shouldn’t give up so quickly and use the listener’s native language.
話し手は簡単に諦めてはいけません
そして、聞き手の母国語を使ってはいけません
First try to change what you are saying into simple terms.
まず最初に、あなたが言う事を簡単な言葉に変えてみて下さい
I recommend instead to use simpler words or take out complicated words or complicated grammar structures.
より単純な単語を使用するか、複雑な単語や複雑な文法構造を取り除くことをお勧めします
Use it as a simple teaching moment. Then continue.

それから、続けてみて下さい
But always try to keep a normal rate of speaking and also adjust as you continue talking.
ただし、常に通常の発話速度を維持し、話し続けるときに調整してください
A listener’s ear becomes easily adjusted to a slow rate of speaking, so don’t allow this to happen.
リスナーの耳はゆっくり話す速度に簡単に適応するようになるので、常に普通のスピードで話してください
Be kind and guide, but also allow them to guide you.
優しく指導してください。また、彼らがあなたを導くようにもしてください
A listener should be able to guide his teacher or friend.
リスナーは先生や友達を指導出来るようにするべきです
Never assume, speak about your feeling of understanding.
決して思い込まず、あなたは理解しようとしている気持ちを話してください
